The Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has three skill centres, namely:

Centre for Excellence Jos,
Industrial Skills Training Centre, Ikeja,
Industrial Skills Training Centre, Kano,

Model Skills Training Centre MSTC, Abuja.

Centre for Excellence, Jos

The Centre for Excellence was established by the management of the Industrial Training Fund in 1992 to provide up-to-date training and development for staff and non-staff of the Fund to meet the ever-changing demands of group and individual work place and desk functions.

In it's ten years of experience, the Centre has trained over three thousand (3,000) members of staff in various fields of endeavor.

The Centre has a new mandate to reach external clientele in the field of work. As an apex training institution, they design and deliver tailor-made programmes on request to meet clients' identified training assessment.

The Centre is presently comprised of the following units:

Consultancy Services
Curriculum Development
Symptom Based -Study
Staff Development and
Vocational Skills Training

The Centre has a cream of well-seasoned professional staff and other external facilitators drawn from both the private and public sectors. The professional staff come from various backgrounds of engineering, social sciences, law, textile and other fields of Endeavour.

 

 

The Centre as a unit of the ITF has successfully participated in ITF/FEAP, ITF/Universities and ITF/NAPEP joint ventures in the past.

Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC), Ikeja

INTRODUCTION

The Industrial Skills Training Centres (ISTC) Ikeja,was estabished in 1983 as "Vocational Training Centre" (VTC).The ITF in a bid to introduce into the National economy an effective and systematic technical and Vocational training system changed the Centre to Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC) in 1997.

Objectives

The Industrial Training Fund as a Human Resource Development Organization has its core mandate to be that of training to improve the performance of the industrial work force in the economy by training for skills acquisition and improvement of work processes. The Centre’s objectives are therefore to:

Train and develop middle level manpower with focus on employability in selected occupational areas.

Provide and improve training standards and ensure that the right technical and vocational skills needed by the local industries are available.

Empower the youths with multi-skills and entrepreneurial skills for job and wealth creation.

Certify the trainees with Certificate of competence for the labour market.

AVAILABLE COURSES

The courses offered by the Centre are classified into:

  • Long Term Courses
  • Medium Term/Modular Courses
  • Short Term Courses

a. Long Term Courses

The ISTC offers one year ITF Certificate of Competence ( COC) course in the following trade areas under the Industrial Training Fund - Nigeria Employer's Consultative Association Technical Skills Development Project (ITF-NECA TSDP):

Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EEM)

Mechanical Maintenance and Machining (MMM)

Auto Mechanic Works ( AMW)

Welding & Metal Fabrication Works (WFW)

Instrumentation and Process Control (IPC)

b.Medium Term/Modular Courses

The following medium term courses otherwise called modular programme are offered in the centre.The courses are available on individual time-based admission (i.e open entry).

c. Short Term Courses

The Centre offers numerous short term skills upgrading courses in various disciplines. For Short term courses scheduled for 2014 and their implementation dates.

d. Other Courses Offered by the Centre

Industrial Skills Training Centre, Kano

INTRODUCTION

The Industrial Skills Training Centre, ISTC, Kano was established by the Industrial Training Fund in 1983 as a strategy of achieving the mandate of the fund in the area of Instructors/Skills development.
It is located in Darayi Quarters, close to Bayero University Old Campus, Challawa Road, Kano, Nigeria.

Agric Mechanization
Metal Fabrication

COURSES AVAILABLE AT THE CENTRE

To date the centre has developed, pilot tested, and run a number of times, thirty-five different courses in different skills areas with over 5,000 Nigerians benefiting.

Model Skills Training Centre, Abuja

INTRODUCTION

The Model Skills Training Centre (MSTC), Abuja was established as a Post-Secondary Technical Institution on 25th August , 2009. It was Commissioned on 7th October , 2011 by His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, President and Commander-In-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The first batch of trainees were admitted in 2011.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives for establishing the Model Skills Training Centre,Abuja are to:-

Produce much needed Technicians for the nation's economy.

Create oppurtunities for young School leavers and adults to acquire employable skills.

Stimulate inclusive economic growth by empowering the youths to be gainfully employed.

Evaluate and certify Apprentices and graduates of Vocational Training Centre in Collaboration with relevant Organizations.

Provide Technical and Vocational Services to industries.

COURSES OFFERED

The Centre run a two (2) year skills training course in collaboration with Institute of Technical Education,Educational Services (ITEES) of Singapore,leading to the award of National Institute of Technical Education Certificate (NITEC).

Certificate are issued to the graduates on successful completion of the following course which were licensed by the Institute:

Facility Maintenance Technology

Information and Communication Technology

Electronics and Computer Networking

Mechatronics (Automation / Autotronics)
