Field Services

The Field Services Department has the Following Divisions :
  • Standardization and Certification Division
  • Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Division
  • Reimbursements Division

  • FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT

    The following are the functions of the Department :

  • Provide Data for Management’s Medium and Long-term Plans
  • Prepare and produce unified Corporate Work-plan and monitor its implementation
  • Monitor Course approval and process Training Reimbursement Claims
  • Coordinate Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme(SIWES) in liaison with Supervisory Agencies and other Stakeholders
  • Monitor acceptance of Students for Industrial Attachment by Contributors to the Fund
  • Liaise with Federal Government MDAs for the observance of the provision of the Act on training.
  • Monitor the Training Activities of registered contributors to the Fund to ensure compliance
  • Examine and Inspect employers’ records relating to Staff development, etc.
  • Monitor, Assess and Evaluate all activities of Area Offices and Training Centres of the Fund
  • Prepare periodic Corporate Progress Reports, including Annual Reports
  • Review and produce operational guidelines for Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme and Training Reimbursement;
  • Undertake any other function as may be assigned, from time to time, by the Director-General
  • Functions of SIWES Division

  • Implement policies on the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme
  • Design operational guidelines for the Scheme
  • Prepare policy instruments on the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) as well as operational guidelines for consideration of Management
  • Prepare Annual Division Work Plan, monitor and develop strategies for Area Offices on SIWES operations and monitoring
  • Liaise with supervisory Agencies (NUC, NBTE and NCCE) as well as other SIWES Stakeholders such as Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Employers of Labour and Institutions on SIWES matters
  • Coordinate and prepare comprehensive Annual returns on SIWES
  • Organize Conferences, Workshops, Seminars and Meetings on SIWES matters
  • Analyse SIWES Monthly Reports, Financial Report from Area Offices and SIWES Orientation and Zonal Coordinators’ meeting reports
  • Update records on SIWES Orientation programmes and Zonal Coordinators’ meetings
  • Maintain Data Bank on all SIWES matters;
  • Prepare periodic reports on the activities of the Division
  • Functions of Training Standards Certification and Reimbursement Division

  • Issue guidelines on Course Approvals
  • Set up standard for training
  • Assess, process and certify employers’ training reimbursement claims
  • Organize Reimbursement Seminars and Conferences
  • Accredit courses and training facilities;
  • Maintain Databank on Training Grants and Re-imbursement
  • Functions of Area Office and Training Centre Affairs Division

  • Provide framework for the administration of Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Collect and collate inputs from Area Offices and Training Centres to prepare Annual Work Plan for Management approval
  • Prepare unified Work Plans for Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Review existing Policies, initiate and formulate new ones for Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Set Targets and Standards of performance for Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Maintain records of training activities in Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate all activities of Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Monitor implementation of programmes in the Area Offices and Training Centres
  • Conduct Annual Performance Assessment Meeting
  • Evaluate and review systems and methods of Monitoring Area Offices and Training Centres
